By the middle of 2024, Mahindra plans to introduce the Thar 5-door in India. At first, the SUV was only going to be available in 4×4 trim.According to the most recent reports, a 4×4 transfer case would come standard with every Thar 5-door model at launch. The top-spec model is probably going to come with a limited-slip rear differential. The engine options for the Thar 5-door are the same as those for the 3-door model. These consist of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that generates 150 BHP and 300–320 Nm and a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 130 BHP and 300 Nm. It is probable that 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions will be available for both engines.
It remains to be seen, though, if Mahindra would continue to provide the 1.5-liter diesel engine in the Thar 5-door. The base Thar 3-door has this engine, which produces 117 BHP and 300 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Engine Options and Power
It has been stated that nothing will change under the hood, meaning the engine option will be the same as the 3-door variant. It will have the option of a diesel or gasoline engine. The former has a maximum output of 130 horsepower and 300 Nm, while the latter is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 300–320 Nm.
Additional Diesel Options?
A few of the inquiries are still being worked out. It’s unknown if a 1.5-liter diesel engine will be available for the SUV. With a maximum output of 117 BHP and 300 Nm, the unit will be a surprise for the customers if it comes with it.
Will It Be Like That Three-Door?
If there are any credible rumors to believe, the Thar 4-door may have a few minor exterior cosmetic changes. Other than that, the majority of the design cues will be taken from the current 3-door Thar, which boasts the same aggressive stance and road appearance. It will have a front fascia with some style, thick side cladding, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
