Ahead of the teamβs Indian Premier League (IPL) opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Ruturaj Gaikwad has been chosen the new captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).MS Dhoni, who is still eligible to play in the IPL and has not yet retired, is being surpassed by Gaikwad. As captain in Hangzhou, Gaikwad won the gold medal for India at the Asian Games 2023.
Gaikwad has surpassed MS Dhoni, who is still playing in the IPL and hasnβt retired. The IPL official handle announced this on Thursday, March 21 through a social media post.

When Ravindra Jadeja assumed command of the yellow brigade in 2022, MS Dhoni stepped down as the captain of the CSK for the last time. But by the halfway point of the season, MSD had taken over, leading the club to victory in the remaining league games and the IPL 2023 championship.
The majority of the Indian Premier League games that the 42-year-old Dhoni captained were played. His winning record in 226 games was 58.84 percent, and he captained both CSK and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants.

Prior to arriving at the CSK training camp in Chepauk, Dhoni made an announcement about his upcoming duty. Few would have predicted that, in the new position, he would completely reject the captaincy. He might be an impact player for CSK or possibly Ruturajβs mentor, helping him adjust to his new position.
