Unbelievable! Yashasvi Jaiswal Sets Sights on Don Bradman’s 94-Year-Old Record, Eyeing Rare Feat in Cricket History

Star Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been setting the cricket field ablaze in the ongoing five-match Test series against England.

With two magnificent double centuries under his belt in the four Tests played so far, the 22-year-old southpaw has amassed a staggering 655 runs. As the fifth and final Test looms on the horizon, scheduled to kick off on Thursday (March 7) in Dharamsala, all eyes are on Jaiswal to see if he can maintain his exceptional form.

In the upcoming Test clash against England, Jaiswal aims to etch his name alongside the legendary Sir Donald Bradman by achieving a remarkable milestone. Should he secure another double century, Jaiswal would become the first Indian batsman and only the second in cricket history, following in the footsteps of Bradman, to notch up three double centuries in a single Test series. Bradman’s awe-inspiring feat was achieved during the 1930 Ashes series in England, where he delivered stellar performances, including innings of 254, 334, and 232 runs in the second, third, and fifth Tests respectively.

Bradman’s monumental tally of 974 runs in that series remains a world record for the most runs scored by a batsman in a Test series. To surpass this historic milestone, Jaiswal will need to amass a minimum of 320 runs in the upcoming Dharamsala Test.

Marking his debut Test series at home and his third overall in his career, Jaiswal left cricket enthusiasts awestruck with his exceptional batting prowess. In the second Test against England at Visakhapatnam’s Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on February 3, he crafted a remarkable innings of 209 runs. Not content with just one double century, Jaiswal followed it up with an unbeaten knock of 214 runs from 236 balls in the third Test at Rajkot’s Niranjan Shah Stadium on February 18.

By achieving this feat, the former India U-19 World Cup star joined an elite club, becoming only the third cricketer after Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli to record back-to-back double centuries for India. Kambli accomplished this feat in 1993, while Kohli replicated it during the India-Sri Lanka series in 2017.

Jaiswal’s stellar performances have not only solidified his position as a key player in the Indian cricket team but also placed him on the cusp of cricketing history. The cricketing fraternity eagerly anticipates whether he can emulate Bradman’s extraordinary achievement, setting yet another benchmark in the realm of Test cricket.

The young opener’s success is a testament to his unwavering determination, exceptional skill, and relentless pursuit of excellence. With each innings, Jaiswal continues to captivate fans and pundits alike, showcasing his ability to dominate the cricketing arena with his remarkable talent and unwavering focus.

As Jaiswal prepares to take the field in Dharamsala, cricket enthusiasts around the world await with bated breath, eager to witness another masterclass from the dynamic young batsman. Whether he can etch his name in the annals of cricketing history remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s meteoric rise promises to redefine the standards of excellence in Test cricket.
