Royal Challengers Bangalore spinners put on a show to bundle out Delhi Capitals for 113 in 18.3 overs. DC started well, racing away to 64/0 before Sophie Molineux turned the game around with a three-wicket over. Shreyanka Patil then took four wickets while Asha Sobhana two as DC suffered an epic batting collapse.
And then there were two. Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be vying to become Women’s Premier League’s newest champions when the two sides meet at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday night. DC have for the second time running been the standout team of the league stage and qualified for the final by virtue of topping the league stage. RCB had to take a slightly longer route after finishing third as they overcame defending champions Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator to make it to their maiden final.
DC won six of their eight league stage matches while losing twice – once to MI and another to UP Warriorz – to finish at the top of the points table. RCB won four and lost as many to finish third to qualify for the playoff match. RCB exited in the league stage itself last season after managing just two victories from eight attempts.
Royal Challengers Bangalore broke years of jinx and won its first title across franchise leagues when it beat DC by eight wickets to claim the second season of the Women’s Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
Finally RCB women answer to the call Ee Sala Cup Namde! Congratulations RCB and Smriti Mandhana on lifting the trophy, going past the Delhi Capitals in the #WPLFinal!
